Bobcats Make Trip to Navy for Midweek Contest
Navy Welcomes Binghamton for Midweek Contest
The Binghamton baseball team will make the trip to Annapolis, Maryland on Tuesday, March 7 to face Navy in a midweek non-conference contest. The Bearcats and Midshipmen will meet for the first time on the diamond.
Binghamton enters the contest with a 2-4 record after dropping two out of three games at Coastal Carolina last weekend. Navy is 3-4 this spring following a 2-1 series win over Bucknell over the weekend.
First Meeting Between Binghamton, Navy
Tuesday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting between Binghamton and Navy on the baseball diamond. The Bearcats and Midshipmen are both members of the America East Conference but compete in different divisions.
Binghamton is a member of the America East North Division while Navy competes in the America East South Division. The two teams have never met in any sport at the Division I level.
Binghamton Looks to Rebound
The Bearcats are looking to rebound from a tough weekend at Coastal Carolina. Binghamton dropped two out of three games to the Chanticleers, including a 12-2 loss in the series finale on Sunday.
Binghamton's offense struggled against Coastal Carolina, scoring just nine runs in three games. The Bearcats will need to find a way to generate more offense against Navy's pitching staff.
Navy Coming Off Series Win
Navy is coming off a 2-1 series win over Bucknell over the weekend. The Midshipmen won the first two games of the series before dropping the finale on Sunday.
Navy's offense was led by senior outfielder Christian Policelli, who batted .500 (6-for-12) with two doubles and four RBIs in the series. The Midshipmen also got a strong performance from their pitching staff, which allowed just three runs in the first two games of the series.
