Cooper Connolly Ruled Out Of AUS vs PAK T20I Series 2024 After Fracturing His Hand During AUS vs PAK 3rd
Connolly likely to miss out on T20 World Cup 2024 as well
Speedy recovery to fast-rising all-rounder
Melbourne Stars all-rounder Cooper Connolly has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan after fracturing his hand during the third T20I between Australia and Pakistan.
Connolly suffered the injury while fielding during the match and was taken to the hospital for scans, which confirmed the fracture. The 21-year-old is now expected to be out of action for several weeks.
The injury is a major blow to Australia's T20I team, as Connolly has been in excellent form in recent months. He was one of the standout performers for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL), taking 20 wickets and scoring over 200 runs.
Connolly's absence will also be a big loss for Australia's T20 World Cup squad. The all-rounder is seen as a potential star of the future and was expected to play a key role in Australia's campaign.
However, the injury could rule him out of the tournament, which is scheduled to be held in Australia later this year. Cricket Australia (CA) will make a decision on Connolly's availability for the World Cup once he has undergone further medical assessment.
In the meantime, Connolly is focusing on his recovery. He will undergo surgery on his hand in the coming days and is expected to be out of action for at least six weeks.
