Woman Killed by Falling Tree in Lynnwood

A woman was killed in Lynnwood on Tuesday when a tree fell on her car, police said.

The woman was driving on 196th Street Southwest near 40th Avenue West when the tree fell, crushing her car.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as 52-year-old Lynnwood resident, Sarah Jones.

Police said the tree was likely weakened by recent storms and high winds.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the Puget Sound area on Tuesday, warning of gusts up to 50 mph.

Police are investigating the incident.
