GO for a drink? Rooftop bars could be new way to watch rocket launches in Cape Canaveral
Closer views of far-out launches
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Rooftop bars could soon be the new way to watch rocket launches at Cape Canaveral.
New proposal for rooftop viewing
Space Perspective, a company that plans to launch tourists to the edge of space in a high-altitude balloon, has proposed building a rooftop bar on top of its planned launch complex.
The bar would offer 360-degree views of the launch pad and the surrounding area, including the Kennedy Space Center and the Atlantic Ocean.
New experience for space enthusiasts
Space Perspective CEO Jane Poynter said the bar would provide a unique experience for space enthusiasts.
"There's no better way to experience the excitement of a rocket launch than from a rooftop bar with a cold drink in your hand," Poynter said.
The proposed bar is still in the early stages of planning, but Space Perspective hopes to open it in time for the company's first commercial launch in 2024.
