Former Lakers eight-time All-Star wants to join Thunder: 'Your boy is ready'
Russell Westbrook reportedly wants to play with Thunder
Longtime Lakers star Russell Westbrook is reportedly seeking a trade to the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to The Athletic.
Westbrook, an eight-time All-Star, spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Thunder before being traded to the Houston Rockets in 2019.
He was then traded to the Lakers in 2021.
Westbrook averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game for the Lakers last season.
However, he struggled to fit in with the team and was often criticized for his poor shooting and decision-making.
The Thunder are reportedly interested in acquiring Westbrook, who would give them a veteran leader and a proven scorer.
The Thunder are coming off a 24-58 season and are looking to rebuild their team around young players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey.
If Westbrook is traded to the Thunder, it would be a homecoming for the 33-year-old guard.
He played his best basketball in Oklahoma City, where he was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player in 2017.
Westbrook is a fan favorite in Oklahoma City and his return would be welcomed by many fans.
