One of the most decorated and celebrated softball players in the state of California has landed at the University of Northern Iowa. Payton Ceddo brings a formidable repertoire of skills and an impressive list of accolades to the Panthers.
A Legacy of Excellence
Ceddo has been a force on the diamond since her earliest days as an athlete. Her remarkable abilities have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. She earned consecutive CIF Southern Section Division 1 Player of the Year awards in 2022 and 2023. Additionally, she was named the 2022 Orange County Softball Pitcher of the Year and the 2023 Softball Player of the Year by the Orange County Register.
Dominance in the Circle
Ceddo's pitching prowess is a sight to behold. She can confound batters with her incredible speed, precision, and an arsenal of effective pitches. Her fastball consistently clocks in the low 60s, while her changeup and riseball keep opponents off balance. Ceddo's ability to control the strike zone and generate strikeouts makes her a formidable presence in the pitcher's circle.
Her impressive statistics speak for themselves. In her senior season at Marina High School, Ceddo posted a remarkable 1.59 ERA and struck out 223 batters in 142 innings pitched. She also showcased her offensive skills with a .398 batting average and 11 home runs.
Beyond the Field
Ceddo's talents extend beyond the athletic realm. A bright and motivated student, she maintains a 3.8 GPA and plans to major in business at UNI. She is also involved in community service, volunteering her time at local youth sports organizations.
