Bangladesh in tough group in T20 World Cup
Bangladesh have been placed in a tough group for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
The Tigers have been drawn in Group 2 alongside India, Pakistan, South Africa and two qualifiers.
Bangladesh will open their campaign against India on October 23 in Sydney. They will then face South Africa on October 27 in Perth, Pakistan on October 30 in Adelaide, and the two qualifiers on November 1 and 4 in Hobart and Melbourne respectively.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 12 stage of the tournament.
Bangladesh have a good record against India in T20Is, having won five of their 11 encounters. However, they have a poor record against Pakistan, having lost nine of their 16 meetings.
South Africa are a strong team on paper, but they have not been in good form in recent months. Bangladesh will be hoping to take advantage of this and secure a place in the Super 12.
The two qualifiers in Group 2 will be determined through the T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament, which will be held in Oman from October 11-14.
Bangladesh will be hoping to avoid the mistakes they made in the 2021 T20 World Cup, where they were eliminated in the first round.
The Tigers will need to be at their best if they want to qualify for the Super 12 stage of the tournament.
