Australia complete 3-0 T20I whitewash in Lahore

Australia's Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis starred as the visitors completed a 3-0 Twenty20 International series whitewash of Pakistan in Lahore on Tuesday.

Zampa took 3-25 and Stoinis hit an unbeaten 40 as Australia chased down Pakistan's total of 129 with eight wickets and 13 balls to spare.

It was a dominant performance from Australia, who won the first match by 9 wickets and the second by 10 wickets.

Zampa was the pick of the Australian bowlers, taking 3-25 from his four overs.

He removed Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, and Iftikhar Ahmed to leave Pakistan struggling at 69-3.

Stoinis then took over with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 40 from 29 balls.

He put on a 70-run partnership with Josh Inglis (30) to guide Australia to victory.

The win gives Australia a clean sweep of the series and extends their winning streak in T20Is to seven matches.

It is also the first time that Australia have whitewashed Pakistan in a T20I series.

Pakistan will be disappointed with their performance in the series, but they will have a chance to bounce back when they face Australia in a three-match Test series starting on March 4.

Match summary

Australia won the toss and elected to field first.

Pakistan got off to a good start, with openers Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan putting on 43 runs for the first wicket.

However, Zampa broke the partnership when he had Zaman caught by Mitchell Swepson for 22.

Rizwan then fell to Zampa for 23, and Iftikhar Ahmed was out to Zampa for 14.

Pakistan were now struggling at 69-3, and they never really recovered.

Khushdil Shah top-scored for Pakistan with 34, but he was the only batsman to pass 30.

Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 129 in the 19th over.

Australia's chase got off to a shaky start, with openers David Warner and Aaron Finch falling cheaply.

However, Stoinis and Inglis steadied the innings with a 70-run partnership.

Stoinis was particularly impressive, hitting four fours and two sixes.

Inglis was eventually out for 30, but Stoinis remained at the crease to guide Australia to victory.

Australia reached their target with eight wickets and 13 balls to spare.

Reaction

"I'm really pleased with the way we played tonight," said Australia captain Aaron Finch.

"We bowled really well, and we chased down the total with ease."

"It's a great way to finish the series, and it gives us a lot of confidence going into the Test matches."

"We're disappointed with the way we played tonight," said Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

"We didn't bat well, and we didn't bowl well.

"We need to learn from our mistakes and come back stronger in the Test matches."
