Zach Edey signs a two-way deal with the Toronto Raptors
The Purdue product will split time between the Raptors and their G-League affiliate
Edey is a 7'4" center who averaged 14.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this past season
The Toronto Raptors have signed center Zach Edey to a two-way contract, the team announced Monday.
Edey, 20, was a standout for Purdue this past season, averaging 14.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. He also shot 61.7% from the field.
Edey is a 7'4" center with a massive wingspan. He is a strong rebounder and defender, and he has a good touch around the basket.
Edey will split time between the Raptors and their G-League affiliate, the Raptors 905.
The Raptors are hoping that Edey can develop into a starting-caliber center. He has the potential to be a force in the paint on both ends of the floor.
Edey's signing is the latest in a series of moves by the Raptors to bolster their frontcourt. The team also signed center Khem Birch and forward Juancho Hernangomez this offseason.
The Raptors are hoping that Edey, Birch, and Hernangomez can help them improve their defense and rebounding next season.
