Vandenberg Middle School, Manzanita Charter Locked Down Briefly, Threat Non-Credible
Assistant Principal, Jason Tovar, conveyed in an email to parents, "out of an abundance of caution and safety for all students, we initiated a brief lockdown on campus today."
Tovar stated that the school was notified of a non-credible threat.
On November 14, 2023, at approximately 10:15 am, Vandenberg Middle School and Manzanita Charter were placed on lockdown after receiving a non-credible threat.
The schools were locked down for approximately 45 minutes while law enforcement investigated the threat. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 11:00 am after law enforcement determined that the threat was not credible.
During the lockdown, students and staff were instructed to remain in their classrooms and follow the instructions of law enforcement. No one was injured during the lockdown.

Tovar also said that the school is working with law enforcement to investigate the threat and that they will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of students and staff.
