Ty Jerome News: Rare production in spot start
Ty Jerome made a rare start for the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday and took advantage of the opportunity, posting 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in a 112-102 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Jerome, who has started just five games this season, was inserted into the starting lineup in place of the injured Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He responded with one of his best performances of the season, shooting 8-of-15 from the field and 3-of-7 from three-point range.
The 25-year-old point guard also dished out a career-high five assists, helping the Thunder move the ball and create open looks for their shooters. He also grabbed seven rebounds, showing his versatility on the defensive end.
Despite Jerome's strong performance, the Thunder were unable to overcome a slow start and a poor shooting night from three-point range. They shot just 27.6% from beyond the arc, while the Timberwolves shot 40.7%.
The loss dropped the Thunder to 28-30 on the season, 11th in the Western Conference. They will be back in action on Friday night when they host the New Orleans Pelicans.
Here are some additional highlights from Jerome's performance:
- He scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter, helping the Thunder make a late run.
- He also had a team-high three steals.
- He finished the game with a plus-minus of +10, which was the best on the team.
