Turkey 0-0 Wales: Nations League – as it happened
Gareth Bale missed a penalty as Wales began their Nations League campaign with a goalless draw in Turkey.
The Dragons had the better of the first half in searing heat in Izmir, and Bale had a great chance to put them ahead from the spot after 25 minutes when Neco Williams was fouled.
But the Real Madrid forward’s weak effort was saved by Ugurcan Cakir, and Turkey probably should have made Wales pay for that miss when Cengiz Under hit the bar from close range soon after.
Wales improved after the break, with Brennan Johnson hitting the woodwork late on, but they could not find a winner and will need to improve when they host Belgium in Cardiff on Saturday.
