The Lakers Had Lots of Praise for Max Christie after Performance vs. Spurs
All the Lakers Had Positive Things to Say About Max Christie
The Lakers may have lost to the Spurs on Tuesday night, but there was one bright spot for the team: Max Christie.
Christie, the Lakers' first-round pick in the 2022 NBA draft, had a solid game, finishing with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
After the game, the Lakers had nothing but praise for Christie.
Darvin Ham
"I thought Max played great," Ham said. "He was aggressive, he was active, he made some shots, he played with great energy. I was really happy with his performance."
Christie's Impressive Defense
One of the most impressive things about Christie's performance was his defense.
Christie guarded Spurs star Keldon Johnson for much of the game, and he held him to just 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting.
Ham said he was impressed with Christie's ability to stay in front of Johnson and make him work for his shots.
Patrick Beverley
"Max is a great defender," Beverley said. "He's long, he's athletic, and he's not afraid to get physical. He's going to be a great defender in this league."
Christie's Shooting Ability
In addition to his defense, Christie also showed off his shooting ability against the Spurs.
Christie hit 2-of-5 from three-point range, and he also made a tough pull-up jumper in the fourth quarter.
Ham said he was encouraged by Christie's shooting performance.
Dennis Schroder
"Max can shoot the ball," Schroder said. "He's got a nice stroke. I think he's going to be a good shooter in this league."
Christie's Future with the Lakers
The Lakers are excited about Christie's future with the team.
Christie is still only 19 years old, and he has a lot of potential.
If he continues to develop, he could be a key player for the Lakers for years to come.
Rob Pelinka
"Max is a special player," Pelinka said. "He has all the tools to be a great NBA player. We're excited to see how he develops in the years to come."
