Some Cavs Streakin’ Scribbles, starting with Ty Jerome – Terry Pluto
Ty Jerome
The 26-year-old Virginia product played like he's been to at least the NBA Finals, swishing 3 of 5 shots with two assists and no turnovers in 18 floor minutes.
He was spectacular in the 136-134 come-from-behind victory Sunday in Memphis – and even more so in the 122-99 triumph Tuesday at home against the lowly Spurs.
Jerome canned all five first-half shots against the Spurs as the Cavs took a 13-point halftime lead and led by 20 after three periods.
Darius Garland
Forget the 4-of-15 shooting night in Memphis, when the Cavs had a chance to become the first team to start the season 7-0 since the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors.
Garland played like an All-Star against the Spurs. He's had at least 15 assists six times already, matching his total for all of last season.
Garland seemingly had eyes in the back of his head Tuesday against San Antonio, whipping no-look passes to open teammates for easy baskets.
Evan Mobley
The No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft is already developing into one of the league's top defenders entering just his second season.
Mobley had five blocks and grabbed 11 rebounds in 33 minutes against San Antonio on Tuesday, adding 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
Mobley has 25 blocks already on the season, tied for the most in the NBA and five more than any other player in the Eastern Conference.
Donovan Mitchell
The three-time All-Star has been shaky as a jump-shooter for the Cavs, shooting just 42.5% overall and 23.9% from 3-point range.
He's making up for it else where, averaging 8.5 assists, 6.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. Only Giannis Antetokounmpo and Tyrese Haliburton have averages in all four categories.
Mitchell had 23 points, nine assists and six rebounds Tuesday night, his fifth consecutive game with at least 22 points and six assists.
Caris LeVert
After missing the first four games of the season, LeVert has done nothing but score since joining the starting lineup last Friday in Atlanta.
He is averaging 22.7 points on 45.3% shooting in three starts, including 23 against the Hawks, 24 against the Grizzlies and 23 more against the Spurs.
LeVert has hit only 23.1% on 3-pointers with the Cavs, but he is 12-of-13 on 2-point field goal attempts.
