San Antonio Spurs Take Game 1 of NBA Cup Finals
A Close Contest from Start to Finish
The San Antonio Spurs overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 110-104 in Game 1 of the NBA Cup Finals on Thursday night.
The Thunder led by as many as 13 points in the second half, but the Spurs chipped away at the lead throughout the fourth quarter. With just over two minutes remaining, Kawhi Leonard hit a jumper to give the Spurs a 106-104 lead. The Thunder had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Russell Westbrook's three-point attempt bounced off the rim.
Leonard led the Spurs with 32 points, while LaMarcus Aldridge added 25 points and 10 rebounds. Westbrook led the Thunder with 27 points, while Paul George added 24 points.
Series Shifts to Oklahoma City
The series now shifts to Oklahoma City for Game 2 on Sunday night. The Thunder will be looking to even the series, while the Spurs will be looking to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
