S. Korea coach guarding against complacency for World Cup qualifier against Palestine
South Korea set to host Palestine on March 28 in their first friendly since November.
South Korean players have been warned against complacency when they face Palestine in their first friendly since November.
South Korea will host Palestine on March 28 at Goyang Stadium in their first friendly since beating Uruguay 2-0 in November.
South Korea are ranked 29th in the world by FIFA, while Palestine are 100th.
South Korea head coach Paulo Bento has warned his players not to take Palestine lightly, despite the gulf in the FIFA rankings.
"We have to respect Palestine and play our best," Bento said.
"They are a good team and we can't afford to be complacent."
South Korea will be without several key players for the friendly, including Son Heung-min, who is injured.
However, Bento is confident that his team has enough quality to beat Palestine.
"We have a good squad and we're confident that we can win this game," Bento said.
Palestine will be looking to cause an upset against South Korea.
The Palestinians have never beaten South Korea in a friendly, but they did hold the Koreans to a 0-0 draw in a 2019 Asian Cup qualifier.
Palestine head coach Makram Daboub is confident that his team can get a result against South Korea.
"We know that South Korea is a strong team, but we're not afraid of them," Daboub said.
"We're going to go out there and give it our best shot."
The friendly between South Korea and Palestine will be played at Goyang Stadium on March 28.
Kick-off is at 7pm KST.
