Gilgeous-Alexander, Thunder Look to Start Season Strong Against Young Spurs Squad

Thunder, rebuilding after trading away multiple veterans in the offseason, hope to find footing against a young Spurs group led by Keldon Johnson.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will open their 2022-23 NBA season Tuesday night when they host the San Antonio Spurs at Paycom Center.

The Thunder have made a number of changes to their roster this offseason, including trading away veterans Danilo Gallinari, Darius Bazley, and Derrick Favors, a sign the organization is shifting towards a full rebuild.

The Spurs have also made some changes to their roster this offseason.

The Spurs traded away Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks and acquired Jock Landale and a first-round pick from the Phoenix Suns.

The Thunder are led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who averaged 24.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game last season.

The Spurs are led by Keldon Johnson, who averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game last season.

The Thunder are hoping to start the season strong against a young Spurs squad.
