Officer Was Ambushed While Responding to Call
Suspect in Custody, Investigation Ongoing
A New York Police Department (NYPD) officer was shot in the leg in Queens on Tuesday night, police sources said.
The officer was responding to a call in the South Jamaica neighborhood when he was ambushed by a gunman, the sources said.
The officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
The suspect, 25-year-old Kevon Paul, was taken into custody at the scene, the sources said.
Paul has been charged with attempted murder, assault on a police officer, and criminal possession of a weapon, the sources said.
The investigation is ongoing.
