Mexico manager Javier Aguirre was left bloodied after being hit with a beer can following his team's loss to Honduras in a World Cup qualifying match on Sunday.
The incident happened as Aguirre was leaving the field at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City after the match, which Honduras won 3-2.
Aguirre was hit in the face by the can, which left him with a large cut to his temple.
Aguirre was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was released a few hours later
The Mexico Football Federation condemned the attack on Aguirre, calling it a "cowardly and despicable act".
The Honduras Football Federation also condemned the attack, saying it was "unfortunate and unacceptable".
Aguirre has been in charge of the Mexico national team since 2018.
He has led the team to the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup title and the 2021 CONCACAF Nations League title.
Mexico is currently in third place in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying standings, with four matches remaining.
