Lakers Make Bronny James Injury Announcement
Bronny James Out Indefinitely With Fractured Foot
Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a fractured foot, the team announced today.
James suffered the injury during a game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night. He was driving to the basket when he collided with Grizzlies center Steven Adams and fell awkwardly to the floor.
X-rays revealed a fracture to the fifth metatarsal in James' left foot. The injury is expected to sideline him for 6-8 weeks.
"This is a tough blow for us," Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. "Bronny has been playing well for us all season, and he was really starting to find his rhythm. We're going to miss him on the court."
The Lakers are currently 23-25 on the season and are in ninth place in the Western Conference. They are two games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the final play-in spot.
James has been a key contributor for the Lakers this season, averaging 11.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He has also shown flashes of his potential on the defensive end, with 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks per game.
The Lakers will be hoping to get James back healthy for the playoffs, but his absence will be a major blow to their chances of making a deep run.
"I'm just trying to stay positive and focus on getting back on the court as soon as possible," James said. "I'm not going to let this injury get me down."
