Jerome Tang Previews Kansas State’s Key Week Ahead
Wildcats Look to Extend Win Streak to Six Games
Coach Tang Discusses Upcoming Matchups With Oklahoma and Texas
Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang met with the media on Monday to preview the Wildcats’ upcoming week, which features a pair of key matchups against Oklahoma and Texas.
K-State is coming off a 71-64 win over TCU on Saturday, which extended their winning streak to five games. The Wildcats are now 14-4 overall and 4-2 in Big 12 play.
Oklahoma is 12-5 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12. The Sooners are coming off a 73-63 loss at home to Texas.
Texas is 16-2 overall and 5-1 in the Big 12. The Longhorns are coming off a 70-64 win at Oklahoma State.
“We’re excited about the challenge of playing two tough opponents this week,” Tang said.
“Oklahoma is a very talented team, and they’re playing well right now. Texas is a top-10 team, and they’re one of the hottest teams in the country.”
“We’re going to need to be at our best to beat these teams, but I’m confident that we can get the job done.”
Tang said that the Wildcats’ focus this week will be on defense.
“We need to make sure that we’re guarding the ball well and that we’re not giving up easy baskets,” Tang said.
“We also need to rebound the ball well, and we need to make our free throws.”
Tang said that he expects the Wildcats to be tested this week, but he’s confident that his team is up to the challenge.
“We’ve been playing well lately, and we’re starting to gel as a team,” Tang said.
“I’m excited to see what we can do this week.”
