Japan close to securing World Cup finals spot
Japan are on the cusp of securing a place at the 2023 World Cup after battling to a 1-1 draw with Palestine in Group B of the Asian qualifiers on Thursday.
Hajime Moriyasu's side came into the match top of the table and needing just one point to guarantee qualification with two games left.
They took the lead in the 8th minute through Werder Bremen forward Yuya Osako, but Palestine hit back with a stunning equalizer from Omar Aldarwich just before the hour.
Son Heung-min scores in South Korea draw with Iraq
Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min scored a superb goal as South Korea drew 0-0 with Iraq in Group A of the Asian qualifiers.
The result means that South Korea remain in second place in the standings, behind leaders Iran.
With 2 games remaining Iraq can still finish in the top 3 of the group to progress to the next round of qualifiers.

In other results, Australia moved into second place in Group B with a 4-0 win over Vietnam.
Iran continued their perfect start to qualifying with a 3-0 victory over Lebanon.
Meanwhile, in Group A, Syria kept their hopes of finishing in the top 2 alive with a 2-1 win over Lebanon.
