Rafael Nadal is a Spanish professional tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 1 in men's singles tennis by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Nadal has won 22 Grand Slam men's singles titles, the most among men, and has been ranked world No. 1 for a record 209 consecutive weeks. Nadal is also the only player to have won all four Grand Slams and the Olympic gold medal in singles.
Early life and career
Rafael Nadal was born on June 3, 1986, in Manacor, Mallorca, Spain. He began playing tennis at the age of four with his uncle, Toni Nadal. Nadal turned professional in 2001 at the age of 15. He won his first ATP title in 2002 at the Mallorca Open. Nadal won his first Grand Slam title at the 2005 French Open, becoming the first Spanish player to win the tournament since Andrés Gimeno in 1972.
