Ex-Germany Coach Low: How I Nicked Musiala Away from England
How Low Convinced Musiala to Choose Germany
Former Germany coach Joachim Low has revealed how he convinced Jamal Musiala to choose to play for Germany over England.
Musiala, who was born in Stuttgart to a German mother and an English father, has represented both countries at youth level.
However, in February 2021, he made his senior debut for Germany in a friendly against the Netherlands.
Musiala's Potential
Low believes that Musiala has the potential to become one of the best players in the world.
He said: "Jamal is a very talented player. He has a great touch, he's very quick, and he can play in a number of positions.
"I think he has the potential to become one of the best players in the world.
Low's Approach
Low said that he did not put pressure on Musiala to choose Germany.
Instead, he simply explained the benefits of playing for Germany and outlined his plans for the team.
"I spoke to Jamal and his family about the path that I wanted to take with the team," said Low.
"I explained that I wanted to build a young, dynamic team that could play attacking football.
"I also told him that I believed he could be a key player for us.
Musiala's Decision
After considering his options, Musiala decided to choose Germany.
He said: "I'm very grateful to Joachim Low for giving me the opportunity to play for Germany.
"I think it's the right decision for me. I'm excited to see what the future holds.
