Aviation incident forces small plane to land in Chattanooga

A small plane traveling from Dalton, Georgia, to Chattanooga, Tennessee, was involved in an aviation incident.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

According to the Chattanooga Airport Police, the plane's pilot reported engine problems while flying over Lookout Mountain at approximately 3:30 pm. The pilot attempted to make an emergency landing at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport but was unable to do so due to the severity of the engine problems.

The pilot was forced to land the plane on Shallowford Road near the airport. The plane skidded off the road and came to a stop in a ditch.

The pilot and two passengers were able to exit the plane without any injuries. The plane sustained minor damage.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident.
