Mountaineers look to continue hot start against FCS foe

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University football will host in-state FCS foe Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday, September 17th at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

App State enters the contest with a 2-0 record after a 40-16 victory at No. 16-ranked Marshall last weekend. The Mountaineers are averaging 515 yards of total offense per game, led by quarterback Chase Brice's 590 passing yards and six touchdowns.

Queens, meanwhile, is making the jump to the FBS level after a successful run in the FCS. The Royals went 10-1 in the 2021 season and won a share of the Big South Conference championship.

Saturday's game will be the first meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.

What to Watch For

Key Players

Appalachian State * Quarterback Chase Brice * Running back Camerun Peoples * Wide receiver Corey Sutton Queens * Quarterback JT Macon * Running back Jaquan Lynch * Wide receiver TJ Smith

Prediction

App State is a heavy favorite in this matchup, but Queens has a chance to make it a competitive game if they can control the clock and keep the Mountaineers' offense off the field. However, App State's high-powered offense and stingy defense should be too much for the Royals in the end. Appalachian State 35, Queens 17
